Down down going down

Here's how Black Friday happened in our house.

Fotini and I woke up at 4:15am and were out the door by 4:45-4:50. She went to Circuit City, I went to Best Buy. I got there just before they opened to find a line wrapped allllll the way around the building and around most of the rest of the attached buildings. The parking lot was 110% full. I kept driving. I was no less than six police cars, 3 with flashing lights in the intersection at that corner. The items Best Buy had were not that important, so I decided to hit Target a full hour before doors opened. The 19" LCD TV was our top priority for the day, and I didn't want a similar situation.

I arrived at Target around 5:01am. I couldn't see the line from where I parked, so I grabbed my DS and started to walk around the building. As I approached the doors, a few Target employees were entering and some lady near the front of the line started shouting 'HELLO! IT'S 5AM ALREADY!'. They posted all over their ads that they opened at 6am. She is a gotdamned moron. Why would you wake at the crack of DUSK, and show up at your first location without any research? She kept yelling, so someone said 'Uh, they open at six.' She left.

There were 50-60 people in line in front of me. Around 5:10am several other people figured out that they didn't open at five, so they left as well. I moved up with about 40 people in front of me. That's really pretty close for these types of things. I call Fotini and she was inside Circuit City just minutes after 5am. At 5:15am it seemed that they were out of most everything on our list (nothing shocking coming from Circuit City. They generally only have a couple old PSOne games, 3 TV's and 5000000 reams of printing paper in stock.) I sat around playing my DS until my hands were too cold to continue. Around 5:30 Fotini called because she found the camera she was looking for, so she decided to stay at Circuit City. She would stay there, in line, for another 2 hours.

NOW to the semi-interesting part of all of this. Around 5:45am the line for Target was wrapped around the shopping center. The line started at the entrance and went south, hugging the building... There were 100's of people in line, so far that I could no longer see the back of the line. Target employees had been handing out coffee and hot cocoa all morning, giving people directions to certain items and handing out flyers. Kudos to Target. Four people were standing right across from the Target entrance. They were obviously going to rush the doors. At 5:55am those 4 people became over 40 people. They were all standing about 30 feet from the door, and at least a quarter mile away from the back of the line. People started shouting 'BACK OF THE LINE!'. An even bigger crowd had formed around the other side of the entrance. Target security was trying to hold those people back.

Six AM. They opened one double door section. The people across from the door rushed forward, the actual line was rushing into the building while trying to block the cutters from cutting. And then that second group was running around the Target security to get in.

What the hell is wrong with people? Thats even more blatant assholery than cutting someone off in traffic, or talking in a movie. Seriously, who do these assholes think they are? A bunch of gotdamned animals. It's like a small child who cannot fend for themselves so they resort to primal instincts of crying, screaming, hitting and fussing to get their way. I wish i had a pile of bricks and license to use them.

So anyway, about 50 people had cut into the line before I made it to the door. People had shoved open the automatic doors (which were turned off), people had run through the exits (also closed) and then shoved Target security out of the way to get in. What makes people physically shove another person to save 4 dollars on a pair of Jordache?

The TV's I wanted were in the men's clothing department. I knew this because I had seen the pile of them on wednesday, however I'm the only one who was aware of this. Standing alone in an empty aisle, I grabbed two and threw them in my cart. I then tried to find a PS2 game, but the electronics were a mess. Everyone was asking me where I found the TV's. I finally made my way to the pharmacy and sailed that back area all the way to the registers. Most of the registers were open and I was the only one checking out. It was 5:06am.

After I bought them, Target security checked my receipt. Then another person opened a single door for me, then another opened the second door for me. I got out side and security said 'Follow him.' Five employees followed me to my car, and picked up some carts afterwards. The line had not made it into the store yet as I was leaving, and in fact was still too long for me to see the back of the line. People were yelling 'What the fuq?' and 'Ah hell!' when they saw my TVs. I thought I was going to get jacked.

I got them into my car and returned my cart. Called Fotini and it was now 5:09am. I was done.

She was just starting her 2 hour debacle. I figured I would try Best Buy around 11am to feel things out. She made it home around 7:30am, we rested, then she left to hit another batch of stores and the mall. Right after she left, Floor Mart called and told us our tile was in.

Then my dad and I picked that up, got lunch, and I was spent. I played some 'Gears of War' (beat it on casual in fact), then tried to fall asleep playing Zelda. I got about 10 minutes in before we left for Cave's birthday party.

The TV we got is ok. It's not high-def, but it's really light and its flat. I'm not let down for $179. I'm not keeping the second one though. I offered it to my parents, and if they don't take it, I'm taking it back.

I just don't get how people can be that low, you know? To just ignore civility and bumrush the doors to get a jump on people who had been patiently waiting out in the cold. There were no 'fights' that I know of, but man I wish there were. I would have loved to see one of those idiots get their teeth knocked out. or even better, some dumb skank who got all prettied up for a day of shopping get her face scratched and scarred because she though she was cute by taking cuts. The two bitches who started the 'across the street' crowd had been sitting in a red 300 in the middle of the parking lot. just sitting. the engine running, right in front of the door, blocking traffic as people tried to find a spot. I mean really!? What is wrong with people?

A bunch of filthy savages. I wish I had the balls to slash all four of their tires while they were inside.

The other day some pile of garbage double parked their Mercedes at the store while the parking lot was incredibly full. I went so far as actually touching their hood ornament, with intentions to snap it off, before I remembered that I'm better than them. I'm not better than much, but I just can't stoop to that level.
