went to dinner with everyone for tamara's birthday. it was fun. ate some good food. i missed robert and ree/rea being there... well, ree/rea anyway... and i didnt get to talk to most of the table, but it was still a nice time. then my bowels died and i also realized i was half asleep, so we came home and i hit the head for a while, now i'm on for a second to get my itunes running a new program and then off to bed.
i copied the folder that was locked, and then unlocked the copy. but now i have to upload the folder to my external drive, and once thats done i can upload THAT folder to itunes and then hopefully delete the locked folder.
good thing it happened now. i have the same file on the drive and its nearly 100gigs... on a 250 drive. any longer and that drive wouldnt have been able to hold both versions on its own.

and jon sent me a picture of some guys ass, so i guess that means he made it to vegas in one piece.

I say it every year... Happy pagan celebration day! You go Astoreth.
MFing GD. i broke my itunes AGAIN. now i have to resort the whole thing.
no, wait. i'm going to cry. it locked my itunes folder, and i cant unlock it. so i cant add anything to it. so i cant add any music. well, i can, to another folder, but if i change itunes so i takes from that folder, it loses everything else (i already did that, and thats how i lost everything). so i'm just about to cry. wtf.

watched 'Rashomon' today. good movie.
also finished Half-Life 2: Episode 2. good game.

Just saw 'Transformers'... I liked it. Its waaaay too freaking long, as is EVERY movie they make nowadays, but it was decent. Shia LaDouche was pretty likeable. I couldnt figure out how they were going to work humans into the plot, but it was more the other way around... they worked giant robots into a teeny bopper story. The plot did suck pretty hard, but it was enough fun getting there that you didn't notice. They did a mini-review of it on the CAGCast and Ship just bashed the hell out of it. The product placement is very very very over the top and in your face, but only at the end is it an annoyance. I also found myself confused during the fights. All you see is a mess of metal and gears and sparks... you cant tell whats doing what to who. The dialog is pretty sharp though, I liked that... and John Tuturro was a nice surprise. The teen hackers were an annoyance.
For a second I though James Earl Jones did the voice of Bumblebee and I got really enamoured, but then its not him so... yeah.
I'd give it a B. I don't want to see it again necessarily, but I enjoyed it.

well, over two hours later, my iTunes is looking pretty decent. of slightly more than 14,000 songs initially, i cut it down to 11,690... and unchecked many selections as well. i'll see how it goes, and if i really get fed up with searching, i'll go ahead and delete all my unchecked stuff.
i dont really get smart playlists. i want to split up my holiday, comedy and regular music. maybe even split off my hip hop from everything else. then i want to just shuffle those playlists... what am i not getting? i brought up the smart playlist function and it was way over my head.
Anyway... It's working pretty good so far. I've had it on shuffle for about the last 8 songs and none of them sucked or were annoying. BUT the last 4 were christian... all in a row. thats a bit weird right? ... ok... DangerDoom... we're back.

The Big News of the Day!!! I finally beat MISSION 8 on Advance Wars! It took me nearly two weeks of losing, and then a 30-some day battle, but I did it!
I need to get back into Contact... and now Lost Magic is beckoning...

So my iTunes is jam packed now. just over 14,000 songs when I woke up. I've spent the last hour or so going through and just deleting duplicate files. if a song was ever on a playlist, it got reloaded for every playlist. so i've cut out nearly 1,000 songs already, and i'm only in the 'K's. its cool to see which songs i've put on a ton of playlists though. some of the biggies so far:
- 'Love is No Big Truth' by Kings of Convenience - 8 times
- 'Imaginary Places' by Busdriver - 8 times
- 'The Sun's Also a Stand-Up Comic' by Kleenex Girl Wonder - 8 times
- 'Prophet' by Jude - 5 times
- 'I Do' by Jude - 6 times (I almost always put those two together.)
The most so far is:
- 'My You Look Ravishing Tonight!' by Kleenex Girl Wonder - 11 times!
and a bunch more...
After I get all the duplicates out, I'll have to go through and cut all the stuff that I don't want on there PERIOD. ie. all the early punk and techno that i ripped off of 30 mp3 discs 2 years ago and has been buried this whole time.
There were also nearly 200 podcasts... so i'm having to go through those as well... i just got them thinned out last week!

So we picked up an external harddrive today... a 250Gig MyBook. There were a billion different ones at the store, and i couldnt tell the difference, so i went with the one that most looked like my beloved XBox 360.
I tried to just put everything that's already in my iTunes on it, but that didnt work. so i'm having to load all the music on my PC into my iTunes (after already removing what was in there) and then i'll move it over i guess. its taking forever. it's found 13,364 audio files so far and it's still going... i hope it doesnt error in the middle of the night!

played some 'Worms' with Jon and David (and then Fotini) today... i love that game in multiplayer. David had both Jon and I, and lost it at the last second. then fotini had me and pushed A instead of X, thus blowing herself up instead of killing me... two cheap wins... and i love it.
Played some GRAW and Okami. Good stuff!

In my search to figure out how iTunes 'Party Shuffle' works, I found this article: http://www.omninerd.com/2005/08/25/arti cles/34
He sets up his iTunes in a few different tests and posts the results. It appears that iTunes does play random tracks while set on random without much preference, despite popular opinion. I still don't understand how party shuffle works, or when it would ever be used. Mine seems to stack the crappiest songs possible next to each other. Or really weird combos (which I guess is what I want anyway), for example... It just played Sufjan Stevens after Public Enemy and then OMC. or Billie Holiday next to 3NP and Daniel Johnston. And it adds a track after playing a track... why? why doesn't it just shuffle the whole playlist, or just use shuffle? it has some options to it that would take a while to set up on the library shuffle, but i still don't see a point for it.

So I woke up this morning and I remembered that I needed to make some Bran Van cd's for Gina before lunch.
I click on the PC and it apparently reversed to factory settings and then chocked on a dong and died. So yeah. i think everything is here, but my itunes was empty, all my folders are totally gone, bookmarks are gone. anything i had ever 'set up' is undone. i dont know what happened, it was fine last night. so i tried searching for mp3's. i found 6000 (there were 9500 last night) and tried to import them to itunes. it kept having a fatal error and closing. i'm terrified to hook my ipod up to the PC, because it might erase my ipod (save for the 15 songs that came with windows).
i really dont know what to do. all my podcast subscriptions are gone too. man... this is awful. its like someone came into my house and snapped 40% of my cd's in half. i cant believe how much is gone.
then i had a doctors appointment, those are fun. then i had a fight with fotini. we had lunch with Gina (she might come to the cookie party!), then we get home. we have a lot to do, so i turn the stereo on for some background music. well, the cd player is totally broken. it will not load the discs. i tried all the tricks i could think of. it just will not load. its dead.
we said 'eff it' and finished 'The Corpse Bride'. i REALLY liked it. Burton has got to take his design into the video game world.
i then downloaded 'Assault Heroes' and had a blast blasting stuff.
Now i'm trying to rebuild my bookmarks. i ran a virus scan for over six hours today, but when i closed one MSN window, it closed all the MSN windows. so it stopped the scan before it was over. i'm so thankful that i dont use MSN. its such a pile. Firefox is closer to heaven than i've ever been, and i'm never looking back.
now we have to get ready for fotini's work christmas party. of which i found out that its for HER company... whereas most of her/our friends work with another company that is in the same building... ie. neither of us will know anyone there, and the three people she does know, she doesnt like. so its going to suck mad ballz.
how's your news?

Why is it that everytime they update iTunes it sucks harder and harder? I guess i was used to version 6.9.8.3.7.1 so version 7.0.1.4 seems like garbage. its slow, takes forever to do anything and doesnt seem very intuative.

How are you today?

So, I just bought my first iTunes track. I got a $20 gift card for my birthday, and have never seen a point in buying digital music. I accidently bought 12 Rods "Gay?" EP digitally a while back, and now i cant seem to access it. Anyway, I bought The Wannadies "You & Me Song" for $0.99 and then found the entire album on amazon for $0.79 about 5 seconds after i bought the MP3 and then realized i should have checked amazon first. it'll take me years to clear this $20 card.

brighten sent me the new Lemonheads album! Thanks Claire! I made my day!
now to the punch. its not great. its not bad, but its no "Car Button Cloth". It might be a "It's a Shame About Ray", or a more-punk less-pot version of "Come On Feel". The MUSIC is pretty great, but the melodies arent quite as razorsharp as i'm used to from Dando. Honestly, I wish Dando had just called it an experimental pop follow-up to "Baby I'm Bored". Why did he have to pull out the Lemonheads banner? Were the Lemonheads ever really the Lemonheads? Didn't they change members about 30 times, with Dando being the only constant? Why not just call everything after "Hate Your Friends" 'Evan Dando'? Oh well, its still nice to hear. I'll just pretend its a collection of studio session outtakes from the past 10 years and train myself to believe that 'Car Button Cloth' was the final Lemonheads record.
Because it matters.

Skillet - Comatose
oh, and you can purchase the incredible new concept album from mewithoutYou, "Brother, Sister" tomorrow. I PROMISE, you'll love it. Unless you have conventional taste in music. Then I cry for you.
